I designed this new fabric, as well as this very simple cut-and-sew pattern for a reusable grocery bag. It’s got girls doing healthy things on it, and mutant fruits and vegetables with faces. It also comes with a matching tomato purse for you or your little one! It is a very basic bag, but it’s my first time creating any kind of sewing pattern, as well as my first time giving sewing instructions, so I thought I would start slow. You can check out and purchase the bag pattern here:

If you would like to do other things with this fabric design (may I suggest a workout bag or whimsical dress?), you can purchase the seamless version here:

Thanks! =)

Kaguya Hime
An illustration I did, based on the old Japanese folk tale, “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter,” to enter into Spoonflower’s “folk tales” fabric design contest. You can view (and perhaps be able to later purchase) the fabric over here.
Vote for me when the contest goes up on Thursday. ;)

Red Rocks in Sedona, as seen from the Chapel of the Holy Cross. I kind of forgot I had done this while I was in Sedona. I sketched these rocks in graphite and watercolor pencils, while Blaine worked from a laptop on the side of a mountain. Good times. =)

Late-Night Introspections

Some people are born with great cheekbones. I, on the other hand, just have cheeks. I once hoped of outgrowing the chipmunk look, but I just realized it’s not going to happen.
I am aware that you can’t spot-reduce fat, but if you could, I would make my face do sit-ups.

When people stare at me, I always assume the worst and think I have a booger on my face.

I’m a klutz, not because I lack coordination. It’s just that, sometimes my enthusiasm overwhelms me, that I forget stuff is there.

Despite my best efforts, I feel like I have ZERO sex appeal.

Late-Night Introspections
Sometimes, I experience bouts of insomnia. When I’m lying in bed and I can’t sleep, and it’s all quiet and dark, it’s a rare time for self-reflection. I thought I may as well document them instead of wasting time rolling around. Here is my first edition of “Late Night Introspections.”

I realize that much of my life revolves around food. When I’m not eating, I’m thinking about what I’m going to eat next. I don’t dedicate a chunk of my life to fitness so I can be skinny. I work out hard so I can eat well and not have diabetes. The more I work, the better I can eat! I often plan my days around food. I sometimes plan meals days ahead of time.
I love to feed the ones I love, share good meals with good company. Some people eat to live, and I live to eat. I feel incredibly lucky that no matter how bad my day gets, at the end of it, there’s always a delicious bit of happiness with my name on it. <3 And that is why being a fat American rocks.
