With the premiere of The Dark Knight and my birthday this past weekend, I’ve been quite a busy gal. We all went to go see the movie at 12 a.m. on Friday, which was subsequently followed by work early in the morning and a doctor’s appointment in the afternoon. That was a sleepy day. I already wrote about the movie on Level 99, along with this comic, so you can go read it there.
This past Saturday, the day before my birthday, I just totally planned to sleep in, have lunch and finish a comic. Instead, I was bamboozled into a surprise party at Guy’s house. It’s quite funny, actually. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate everything, and I love my friends, I was just a little embarrassed is all. Not because I don’t like celebrations thrown on my behalf, because God knows I am just egotistical and narcissistic enough that I would be the first person to throw myself a party. It’s more like I’m embarrassed that I didn’t catch on until the end. Apparently, Blaine has been planning this for the last month and I was none-the-wiser. It kind of bothered me that I ended up being so easily deceived. =P It wasn’t until the last flurry of inconsistencies on Blaine’s part that I sort of began to catch on.
“What, you’re getting me up before noon?”
“Wait, what, you want me to wear a specific dress that I didn’t think you gave a shit about?”
“Huh? You’re dropping off a hard drive at Guy’s house so he can copy I LOVE LUCY EPISODES?!”
All those had some semblance of genuineness…but still…for all of them to happen all in a row? I didn’t know what to think when I rang the doorbell at Guy’s house. The next thing I knew, people were popping and banging pots and pans yelling, “SURPRISE!” I think I started to turn red. Well, I was feeling hot, anyway, but I guess as red as a tan person can get, I suppose. Nevertheless, it was a fun time. There was great food, great company, and Japanese gameshows with torture involved somehow. I was so distracted, that I barely took any pictures, so I’ll post the ones I took later, because I don’t even know if I took any good ones.
OH! And Allen totally almost choked on a piece of carne asada. I’m not sure what happened, but Blaine did the Heimlich on him and he was able to breathe again. Blaine’s not sure if he did anything helpful, but thanks anyway Allen, for not dying at my party. =P I wish I had an embarrassing picture that chronicles a time when you thought you were almost going to die, but I don’t because I’m not cruel, lol. So yeah, thanks to everyone who came. It was really cool to see friends from different circles come together in one place like that. Love ya’ guys. =D
For my birthday weekend, I also wanted to cross something off my list, so I thought I would do something easy and chill, and go eat at Curry House. I’ve always heard good things about it, and I love curry, so I’ve been wanting to try it for the longest time. Blaine, however, never wants to try anything new most of the time, so my birthday is one of those few occassions I can use to coax him into uncharted territory.

Me, outside of Curry House.

Blaine and I inside the Curry House.
The food ended up being really delicious, and I would totally go there again. I got the seafood curry with shrimp, fish, scallops and squid, and Blaine got the beef curry, which was soooo good. I will order the beef curry next time.

Seafood curry on rice.

Zoomed out shot.
All in all, a fantastic and productive birthday. After this weekend, I feel extra blessed and very well-nourished! lol Even though I feel old, I hope to have many more birthdays to come!
