Number Four on my 101/1001 list (go to Build-a-Bear Workshop) isn’t that big of an accomplishment, and some may consider it a waste of money, but I don’t care. What came out of it is the best bear ever!

The outside of the workshop.

Going in, I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted to build a reasonable teddy bear facsimile of the love of my life, Blaine. They had a bear that was super white with pink spots that would have matched Blaine’s skin tone a little more, but it had a pink nose, which automatically makes it too feminine. In the end, I chose a standard, classic-looking, velvet teddy bear that was cute, and also asthma-friendly! After you choose your bear, they let you put a heart in it, and a sound if you should so please. There are pre-recorded sounds, or you can buy one where you can record your own. They then stuff it with this big machine full of fluffy stuff, and then you dress it and enter its identity into their database. All their bears have a lifetime warranty, and if any part of it tears or breaks, they’ll replace it for free, which I thought was pretty neat.

Blaine, getting stuffed, hyuk.

Once I got started to picking out clothes, I was disappointed by their lack of selection of plain, non-proprietary bear clothing. How hard is it to sell a plain black t-shirt, and a plain black jacket that doesn’t have the Harley Davidson logo on it? Incidentally, depending on the outfit you get, it can end up costing more than if you bought real toddler clothes. Six dollars for tiny t-shirt. SIX DOLLARS. Anyway, I ended up being wise about it and just decided to make the clothing items that I couldn’t find there. I bought the pants, bear Chuck Taylors, and bear glasses. I sewed together the plain black t-shirt, made from one of Blaine’s actual old Beefy-T’s, and the black corduroy collared shirt, which I made using some of my grandma fabric. He was sitting around topless for a while, until I got around to whipping up the rest of his clothes, lol. I think he turned out quite cute!

Oh, and the bear turned out cute too! =P

Here he is, chillin’.

And here he is, on his bluetooth keyboard.

Oh! I forgot to mention that I bought one of the custom sounds and put Blaine’s voice in it, so when I squeeze him, he tells me he loves me! XD

Like I said. DOPEST. BEAR. EVER!
