Cruise Vacation, Day 4: Cabo San Lucas
After an entire day at sea, which I will elaborate on a later post, we arrived at the highlight of our vacation: Cabo San Lucas! As you can see from the panorama shot above, it’s absolutely beautiful. The waters are pristine, and you really get that “vacation vibe,” similar to Hawaii. There was no debate this time about whether or not we were going to explore. I wanted to go, and Blaine didn’t want to let me go into Mexico alone, so I win again. Huzzah!

Our ship as we took the ferry to the docks.
Again, we got off the boat with no game plan. All Blaine knew was that he wanted to go to Cabo Wabo at some point, so I was left the task of determining what we would be able to squeeze into only one day at Cabo. As soon as we get to the pier, I see a sign that says “PARASAILING,” and immediately go for it!

Blaine, of course, didn’t want to do it himself, but he was nice enough to come along and take some pictures.
101/1001 - #13 Completed: Go Parasailing

The guys manning the parasailing boat.

I was nervous, but this, by far, was the scariest part of all. Waiting to get caught by the wind is nerve-wracking as heck, but the fear quickly dissipates once you’re up there for a couple of seconds.

“Look, Ma! No hands!”

Up, up and away!

Blaine took this really beautiful shot of my chute over the beach. I went really high up there! I wish I could have taken a camera with me to shoot some bird’s eye view photography, but I didn’t, because, you know…the results could have been disastrous. My track record for “Dropping Electronics Into the Ocean” is not exactly zero. >.>

Me, giving the thumbs up after being pulled back down to the boat. It was really a lot of fun! Not as good as skydiving, but you get that flying experience, without the “jumping out of a plane” part. Like getting the sky with no diving, if you’re into that. =P

Thanks for not killing me, guys!
After the parasailing excursion, we still had plenty of time left, so we decided to head to Cabo Wabo as Blaine had wanted to do.

I saw this on the way and thought it was funny.

After a few minutes of walking, we finally get there.

A little phallic, isn’t it?

We went inside, had some drinks, and listened to a live cover band.

The guitarist in the band was really quite good!

And Blaine had a really huge drink!
After chillin’ at Cabo Wabo, having some drinks, eating some excellent shrimp tacos, we decide to go back to the pier and see what else there is to do. On the way out, though, I took note of something that I didn’t see on the way in….

Really bad mural art for a strip club. Note that the sign on the right advertises “Mermaids.” Yeah, WTF? All you mermaid fetishists out there, this is the place for you! And judging from the grey skin tones, they might also have naked zombies too! Or better yet, naked mermaid zombies! Cabo is awesome!

I also saw this — uh — interestingly-decorated cabaret boat. King Triton got really buff!

Random pelican, WHOO!!!

We eventually decided on a water taxi tour, with a drop-off on one of the more secluded beaches called “La Playa de Amor,” or “Lover’s Beach.” You can imagine what people do there.

Our water taxi driver.

An interesting rock.

The guy drove us to a rocky island where a bunch of seals hang out. They stink.

Seals from further away.

We also got to see this arched rock formation, cleverly named “El Arco,” or for those who don’t speak Spanish, “The Arch.” Told you it was clever.

Blaine and I, in front of El Arco. <3
Once we got to Lover’s Beach, there wasn’t much except a pretty beach. No weirdos doing the nasty in public or anything, thank goodness.

They might have done in this creepy cave, though.

The beach also had some really fantastic rock formations! After we picked a spot to settle on the beach, I immediately wanted to get in the water and do some snorkeling. What did Blaine want to do?

Why, check his e-mail of course! He racked up some roaming charges on his *cough*companyphone*cough* while I went to go look at fishies.

Okay, first of all, I need a tan on my thighs. Second of all, this is why I don’t wear skinny jeans!

Me, after coming back from snorkeling. The water was wonderful, as expected. It makes me want to move closer to the equator! I saw some fish, not nearly as much as when I went snorkeling in Hawaii, but still nice to see.

It’s okay that Blaine’s not a big adventurer. I still love him anyway! =D
When we were done on the beach, we had a comfortable window of time to get back to the ship. Nothing eventful happened on the tender back, so no pictures, haha. I am so happy we were able to fill our day with activities in Cabo San Lucas. It’s easily the best destination in Mexico. I would really like to go back, and maybe swim with dolphins next time! I wonder if they have bungee jumping…hmmmmm….
